Thanking him for his letter and apologizing for not replying sooner; mentioning their common friend Mr. Brisbane; discussing the use of a microscope to look at tin powder; mentioning the hygrometer; congratulating him on his recent victory in the courts; noting that he is enjoying a book by Abbé Gendron both for its subject matter and Gendron's "spelling of words"; asking for an address in Paris where he can send a book [Sir William Petty's work on duplicate proportion] while Toinard is away.
